Masirah Oil Ltd (“MOL”) holds 100 per cent of the Block 50 Oman, an approximately 17,000 sq km offshore concession located in Gulf of Masirah, east of Oman. First oil was achieved in Block 50 in February 2020 and the approval of Field Development Plan for the Yumna Field and the award of Declaration of Commerciality ("DOC") were obtained on 12 July 2020. The DOC enables MOL to fully develop the Yumna Field while continuing to explore the rest of Block 50 Oman.
MOL is a subsidiary of Rex International Holding Ltd (“Rex”), which holds an effective interest of 91.81 per cent through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Rex Oman Ltd.
Rex is an oil exploration and production company listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited. The Company de-risks its portfolio of exploration and development assets using its proprietary liquid hydrocarbon indicator Rex Virtual Drilling technology. Rex is active in Oman and Norway through its subsidiaries Masirah Oil Ltd and Lime Petroleum AS respectively.
Rex International Holding Limited is an oil exploration and production company listed on Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited's Mainboard.
Lime Petroleum AS is an Oslo-based pre-qualified oil exploration company established in 2012, with a portfolio of licences focusing on mature areas close to existing oil and gas infrastructure in the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Lime has a 33.8434% interest in the producing Brage Field and holds interests in several other exploration and discovery assets.
Rex Technology Investments is the technology arm of the Rex Group which offers Rex Virtual Drilling screening services to oil exploration companies around the world.
Mr Hans Lidgren is the Chairman of Masirah Oil Ltd. He is also one of the founders of the Rex Group and a major shareholder of Rex International Holding Limited.
Mr Lidgren has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Since the early 1980s, Mr Lidgren has utilised satellite altimeter data in oil exploration which enabled major oil and gas findings. Mr Lidgren also developed Rex Technologies, comprising Rex Gravity, Rex Seepage and Rex Virtual Drilling, the Rex Group’s proprietary liquid hydrocarbon indicator.
Dr Rabi Narayan Bastia has worked in different capacities and at various locations during his 16 years at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in India. In 1996, he started the E&P business in Reliance Industries Limited, a member of the Reliance Group, India’s largest private sector enterprise. His last position after more than 16 years in the group was as the Head of the Exploration Management Team for Reliance Industries Limited. The highlights of his career include the gas discovery of the Krishna-Godavari basin in 2002, the Mahanadi Basin gas discovery in North East Coast of India in 2003, and an oil and gas discovery in the deep waters of the Cauvery basin in India in 2007.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (1st Class Honours) degree in Applied Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India; a Bachelor of Science (1st Class Honours) degree in Petroleum Exploration & Reservoir Management from the Norwegian Technological University, Norway; a PhD in Petroleum/Structural Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and a Doctor of Science degree in Petroleum Geology from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad (examined by Alberta University, Canada and Oklahoma University, USA).
Dr Atkinson is a professional geologist with over 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. He is currently the founder and director of Worldwide Petroleum Services Pte Ltd and a director of Sonoro Energy Limited. Prior to this, Dr Atkinson was a founding investor in several exploration and production start-up ventures in Southeast Asia, the UK and Canada. He has also worked for Shell International Petroleum Company and was a 15-year career veteran with the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), where his last held position was Vice President of Exploration, Europe/North Africa.
Dr Atkinson holds a PhD in Geology and a BSc (Hons) Geology (1st Class) from theUniversity of Wales, Swansea. He has been a Fellow of the Geological Society of London since 1996 and is a Life Member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Southeast Asia, where he served as President from 2002 to 2003.
Mr Per Lind is also the Chief Financial Officer of Rex International Holding Limited, a major shareholder of Masirah Oil Limited.
From 2009 to 2013, he was Vice President, Investments at Tangerine Time, a Singapore-based investment company investing in real estate and financial services in Singapore, India and the UK. Mr Lind was an active group management member and Director of Investments at Raffles Residency. Before being Senior Vice President of Finance in AEP Investment Management, a Singapore-based investment management company in 2008, Mr Lind spent five years as Director of Finance & Corporate Development with 1st Software Corporation Ltd, a software company listed on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange from 2003 to 2008. He had also worked for six years in the London and Singapore offices of Merchant Venture Investments, an international federation of private equity investors.
Mr Lind holds a Master of Science in Business and Economics from the School of Economics and Commercial Law at the Gothenburg University in Sweden.
Mr Mike Hopkinson has more than 30 years of upstream experience in many different international locations. He is skilled at all engineering and operations aspects of the petroleum business, from exploration, through development and production. His experience includes onshore, offshore, both shallow and deep water, developments. Project locations include UK North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Ukraine, Georgia, Ecuador and Guatemala.
Prior to joining Masirah Oil Ltd, Mr Hopkinson was the Energy Transition Coordinator for Cox Oil in Dallas, Texas, USA. He started his career in 1985 as Operations Engineer with Marathon Oil Company in Aberdeen, Scotland. After transferring to the USA, Mr Hopkinson has also held various upstream oil and gas positions in Kosmos Energy Inc., Caelus Energy LLC, Energy Resource Technology (a Helix company) and Triton Energy Inc., all of which are based in Texas, USA with international and domestic operations.
Mr Hopkinson holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College, UK, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Engineering with Business Studies from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
Mr Salim Al Farsi has more than 20 years of experience in Finance in the oil & gas and cooling solutions sectors in Oman.
Before joining MOL in January 2021, Mr Salim was Chief Executive Officer of Tabreed Oman, a leading provider of creative, efficient and environmentally-friendly cooling solutions, from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, he had held various positions in Finance in several state-owned entities, including in Oman Oil Company, Oman Tourism Development Company, Oman Gas Company and Petroleum Development Oman.
Mr Salim holds an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification from the UK and is the 8th Omani national to become a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He also holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) degree from the University of Derby, UK.
Mr Philip George has almost 20 years of cross-functional experience in the oil & gas sector, ranging from operational management to end-to-end technical project management with technical expertise in upstream processes, including marginal field developments, production optimisation and production enhancement conceptualisation & implementation. Projects and marginal field developments in which Mr George was involved were located in Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Kuwait, Uganda, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Before joining MOL, Mr George was Project Manager & Production Specialist at Expro Production. He had also worked as Malaysia Country Manager for Influit Asia on production-related operations and projects in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, within Asia, he worked as Project Manager for Production Solutions Asia and EPTI (part of the Expro Group). Mr George also worked in SIWA Petroleum (a Weatherford company) on managing engineering, procurement, construction & commissioning of early production facilities within the Middle East and North Africa.
Mr George holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah, UAE. He has also undergone technical training in processing natural gas, oil and gas chemical processing, corrosion and biomedical engineering.
Mr Eddie Doré has more than 30 years of experience in leading domestic and global exploration and development teams in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Australia and Southeast Asia.
Before joining MOL, Mr Doré was Drilling & Completion Consultant at Kosmos Energy in the Gulf of Mexico. Through the course of his career, he has worked in various positions including in project management, drilling advisory and operations, for Halliburton, GulfSlope Energy, W&T Offshore, Inc., TechnipFMC, Nexen/CNOOC, Hess Corporation and UNOCAL, in projects spanning 15 countries.
Mr Doré holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering Technology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, USA.
Mr Tom Fauria has over 30 years of experience in both international & domestic upstream oil and gas projects and has held business development roles and taken on extensive project management responsibilities covering all phases of international exploration activities.
Before joining Masirah Oil Limited, he had worked in Kosmos Energy from 2012 to 2020, first in South America & North Atlantic, then in Dallas, USA, followed by Paramaribo, Suriname. Mr Fauria’s last held position was Vice President & Country Manager of Kosmos Energy Suriname. Prior to that, he was with Repsol from 2006 to 2012, working in Spain, Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. He has also held various positions in Amerada Hess Corporation in Texas, USA, Carigali-Triton Operating Company Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, Triton Energy in Greece and Latin America, Pioneer Natural Resources in the USA and Conoco in the USA and Ecuador.
Mr Fauria holds a Master of Science degree in Geophysics from Purdue University, USA and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Notre Dame, USA. He has also attended Stephen Covey and Dale Carnegie leadership training courses, as well as Repsol’s Integrated Project Management in Exploration & Production and a Kidnapping & Extortion Incident Management Course in Latin America.
Mr Chris Milton has more than 40 years’ experience as a Development Geologist.
Prior to joining MOL, Mr Milton was Development Geologist / Geomodeller for Tarmarind Resources, where he was responsible for updating and finalising the Galoc Static Field Model using Petrel, initiating and overseeing external studies, and incorporating all well data to static model for six vertical and four horizontal wells. Before this, Mr Milton was Technical Manager (Geologist / Geomodeller) of Coastal Energy Kbm Snd Bhd in Malaysia from 2012 to 2016; Chief Development Geologist for Murphy Sarawak Oil Co. Ltd. from 2009 to 2012; and Senior Development Geologist for Murphy Sabah Oil Co. Ltd. from 2003 to 2009. During his career, Mr Milton has fronted presentations to Malaysia’s national oil company and at international AAPG conferences.
Mr Milton had also held various positions at Helix RDS Limited, BP Aberdeen, Total Oil Marine, and Gearhart Geodata Services.
He holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Geology from Aberdeen University and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology from Newcastle University.
